In accordance with the directives of the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. Alaa Farouk, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Adel Abdelazim, President of the Agricultural Research Center, and Prof. Dr. Nevin Abdel Fattah Hassan – Director of the National Gene Bank, a cooperation protocol was signed between the National Gene Bank and the Oil Crops Department of the Field Crops Research Institute.
This protocol comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation between the National Gene Bank and various research institutions. As part of this collaboration, the Oil Crops Department received 100 safflower genetic accessions to be cultivated across three different agro-ecological regions—Sakha Agricultural Research Station, Giza Agricultural Research Station, and Shandweel Agricultural Research Station—with the aim of utilizing them in safflower breeding programs.
