In line with the directives of H.E. Mr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Adel Abdelazim, President of the Agricultural Research Center, the National Gene Bank received Dr. Liu Chuny, President of the National Forestry Academy of China, along with the accompanying Chinese and Egyptian delegations.
The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People’s Republic of China.
Prof. Dr. Nevin Abdel Fattah Hassan, Director of the National Gene Bank; Prof. Dr. Soliman Abdel-Maaboud Arab, Deputy Director for Extension and Training; Dr. Hossam Abdel-Maqsoud Sayed, Deputy Director for Research Affairs; and other staff members welcomed the delegation upon arrival.
The visit began with an opening address by Prof. Dr. Nevin Abdel Fattah Hassan, who warmly welcomed the distinguished guests, expressed her pleasure at their visit to the Bank, and wished them a pleasant stay in Egypt. Following the opening remarks, Dr. Shaimaa Mostafa, researcher at the Bank and supervisor of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory, delivered a presentation introducing the National Gene Bank—its mission, structure, laboratories, objectives, and major achievements.
The delegation then toured the Bank’s various departments and laboratories, where they met with researchers, learned about the ongoing scientific work, and engaged in discussions on potential avenues for collaboration.
The visit concluded with a ceremonial gesture, during which the President of the National Forestry Academy of China was presented with a commemorative shield in appreciation of the National Gene Bank. The shield was received on behalf of the Bank by Prof. Dr. Nevin Abdel Fattah Hassan, its Director.
